Why can't we get Skoda in the US? Because our country is idiotic and so is Volkswagen or who ever owns Skoda.

It is Volkswagens fault but partly the publics fault, sadly I don't think they'd get a large enough market share to make it worth while. I guess I'll get one in 25 years or if I move to Europe.

I think moving to europe is a more interesting choice

I think to a degree it's the grass is greener on the otherside. My Superb estate and the neighbours Fabia vRS would be a nice and brief novelty in the U.S. but wouldn't sell that many units to warrant the cost of meeting all the safety and crash regs for them to be sold in the U.S. in the first place.

I believe (so could be wrong) that a manufacturer has to crash 500 cars to meet all the safety requests for EACH MODEL. So VW would have to basically give up 500 Octavia sedans, 500 Octavia wagons, 500 Superb sedan/hatches, 500 wagons, 500 Yetis, 500 Roomsters, 500 Fabias, etc... for a small number of units sold which are likely to hit the VW sales themselves.

In Europe and Great Britain I think it's 200-250 vehicles per model and once that's done they are free to sell in 20+ different countries and those safety regs are also recognised in the most part in many other countries, so in essence it's just not cost effective as it's not just crash regs and laws but emissions and equipment levels such as air con for the North American market.

When I get an engineering degree it's a possibility, I'd love to work in either a racing series there or work for a auto manufacturer, I'd really miss my home in NY though.

What's with those number plates?

They are detailing/show plates. So I can take pictures of the car while hiding the actual licence plate without having the edit each photo removing them which also removes photo quality.
